Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kirti Azad expressed his disappointment over the government and the ministry of foreign affairs' stance, on the recent attack on an Indian student in Melbourne, as 'irresponsible behaviour'. He further added that many students were attacked there in the past and Indians are not treated well in the many other places like the Middle East too.

Kirti Azad underscored that until strict actions are taken, students will keep on dying and Indians will keep on facing trouble as the government has lost the spirit to protect the dignity of the nation and further cited the example of Captain Sunil James who was falsely accused and kept in custody in Togo.

He further added that such cases were taking place every day and the government was not serious about it, whcih clearly showed their inefficiency. Mentioning the case of Devyani who is an Indian diplomat, he lambasted the government that if she was not protected then how are they going to protect the others.
