Oil India plans to enter into dairy sector: Report

Oil India (OIL), a Premier National Oil Company is reportedly planning to step into dairy sector as part of a CSR initiative. Further, a detailed project report (DPR) will be prepared after the study in two districts of Assam where the company has significant presence. This project is aimed at filling the gap in milk production in North East and giving employment opportunity to the youths of Assam.

Meanwhile, the company has signed an agreement with Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA) to carry out a feasibility study that will cover select villages in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts of Gujarat.

Oil India, a Navratna Company, is Asia's oldest and biggest pioneer oil exploration and Production Company. Oil India has over 1 lakh sq km of PEL/ML areas for its exploration and production activities, most of it in the Indian North East, which accounts for its entire crude oil production and majority of gas production. Rajasthan is the other producing area of the company, contributing 10 per cent of its total gas production.
