Social activist Medha Patkar announced her decision to join Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party and provide full support saying that it was time for new wave in Indian politics and they need to fight the corrupt politicians.

On Sunday, Patkar had said her decision would depend on AAP’s responses to some clarifications she would seek from it. Patkar had also held a meeting with the constituent organisations of the National Alliance of People’s Movement but refused to divulge details.

AAP leader Yogendra Yadav had approached Patkar a few days back asking her to join the party. However, when Delhi Chief Minister and the party’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal was asked about the possibility of Patkar joining, he said that he was not aware of the move. Patkar had been a part of the original core committee of the Lokpal agitation but had chosen not to join the AAP at its inception.
