PEC has floated two separate global tenders for exporting a total 155,000 tonnes of wheat between February 15 and March 25, the bids will close on February 12. The company has floated the tenders as part of the government’s plan to export 2 million tonnes of wheat, procured by state-run Food Corporation of India (FCI). This move in turn will help to create space for the new crop to be harvested from April onwards.
PEC will offer 120,000 tonnes of wheat at Kandla port on the western coast, while the rest 35,000 tonnes at Vizag port on the eastern coast. The bidders can quote for a minimum quantity of 35,000 tonnes for shipment from Vizag port and 45,000 tonnes from Kandla port.
Last year in August, the government had permitted export of 2 million tonnes of wheat through public trading agencies PEC, STC and MMTC. The government has so far approved tenders for one million tonnes and shipments are underway.
