Minorities should feel safe: Sonia Gandhi

29 Jan 2014 Evaluate

Congress president Sonia Gandhi said that minorities should feel 'safe' and hoped that the Prevention of Communal Violence Bill will be passed soon. While speaking at the launch of the National Waqf Development Corporation Limited (NAWADCO) she highlighted that the cabinet has already approved the Prevention of Communal Violence Bill. She hopes it is passed in parliament soon.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi further added that Minorities should feel safe and have faith in law. They must be cautious of the forces that weaken secularism in the country and that the law and order machinery should ensure that if there is any issue which is disturbing communal harmony then it should be controlled immediately and not allowed to spread.
