Rajya Sabha disrupted over Telangana, other issues

The Rajya Sabha was disrupted again on Friday as members created din over formation of a separate Telangana and other issues. The upper house saw its first adjournment soon after it assembled for the day at 11 a.m. As soon as the day's proceedings began, Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari said disruptions in the House would now on be reflected in the record of proceedings.

Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansar said that for several days now, they have been in a situation where they have been forced to witness deviations of the decorum of the House when members rush into the well. He wished to inform the members that this will now be reflected precisely in the proceedings of the House.

However, TDP members C.M. Ramesh and Y.S. Choudhary trooped near the chairman's podium, raising slogans and flashing placards to 'save Andhra Pradesh'. Members from the DMK and AIADMK also created ruckus over the issue of Tamil fishermen being arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy. Members from BJP were on their feet too. Samajwadi Party, Left and Akali Dal members raised various issues, which could not be heard in the din.
