State-owned Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has started distribution of its 5-kg cooking gas cylinders in Kerala on a pilot basis. The price of a cylinder is Rs 2,000 with new connection, which includes the cost of cylinder, pressure regulator and non-domestic LPG. In February, the cost will be Rs 539.50 for a refill, which will vary every month subject to gas pricing.
For new connection, the customers are required to submit only a proof of identity, which can be either of voter Id card, driving licence, PAN card, Aadhaar card, bank pass book or employee ID card. Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs and Food KV Thomas has launched this free-trade LPG cylinder scheme at a public function on February 15, 2014 in the presence of Kerala Government Ministers and senior officials.
