The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) demanded that External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid to apologise for calling its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi impotent. Salman Khurshid in a rally in his constituency Farukkabad, Uttar Pradesh mentioned that allegation were not that Modi got people killed but that he was impotent to fail to protect people during the 2002 riots. The reference was to Modi's claims to be a strong man.
Deputy leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha Ravi Shankar Prasad said that it is utterly irresponsible, shameful and condemnable from the foreign minister of India. He further said that the Oxford educated Salman Khurshid does not understand the distinction between incompetent and impotent and must apologise for his mistake.
