The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati rejected the Parliamentary Standing committee's report on Lokpal bill and described the Lokpal proposed in the Parliamentary Standing panel headed by the Congress MP Abhishek Manusighvi as weak and ineffective and supported social activities Anna Hazare's demand inclusion of Prime Minister under lokpal jurisdiction.

By adding further she said her party is in favors of bringing group C and D employees under the Lokpal. She is also in favors of CBI coming under Lokpal, as CBI has always been misused by the party ruling at the Centre against political rivals and gains.

The central government should bring a strong Lokpal but at the same time keep in mind the federal structure of country as provided in the constitutions. The statement is being viewed as opposition to any move of the centre to impose lokayukta bill on the states, Mayawati said. The BSP will oppose the Lokpal version brought by the central at the all party meet on December 14 and in the parliament. The BSP has 21 MPs in the Lok Sabha and 8 in the Rajya Sabha.

Mayawati said that the Congress led UPA government at the Centre has been protecting corrupt ministers and officials. By adding further she said, series of scams in UPA II show that Congress is neck deep in corruption. In comparison, BSP government has taken action against its own ministers and MLAs whose names have figured in corruption and criminal cases.
