Bharti Airtel surges on plan to hike fixed-line broadband rates from April

Bharti Airtel is currently trading at Rs. 302.00, up by 2.20 points or 0.73 % from its previous closing of Rs. 299.80 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 300.20 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 303.90 and Rs. 298.10 respectively. So far 56434 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 373.50 on 01-Nov-2013 and a 52 week low of Rs. 266.95 on 05-Apr-2013.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 309.90 and Rs. 283.50 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 121261.13 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 65.23 % while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 24.53 % and 10.24 % respectively.

Bharti Airtel, a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa, is likely to increase charges of fixed-line broadband services from April 2014, by up to 40% in certain plans. The company has already informed its customers that the increase in broadband rates would be effective from next billing cycle in April.

Due to an increase in input cost, the rent will be revised from Rs 250 to Rs 349 with effect from April 17, 2014. The company is also planning to increase minimum speed of broadband to 512 kilobit per second (kbps) from 256 kbps.
