Tata Communications’ arm to install 50,000 ATMs by 2016

Tata Communications Payment Solutions (TCPSL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Communications is planning to install 50,000 ATMs by 2016 which will double its revenue. The company’s revenue lines are directly linked to the number of ATMs.

Recently, the company has installed the 1000th White Label ATM (WLA) under the brand name of 'Indicash' at a village Bhondsi in Gurgaon. Customers of any bank can withdraw cash from a WLA. Out of targetted 50,000 ATMs by 2016, 15,000 would be Indicash ATMs. The company has also manages ATMs of other banks which it calls Brown Label ATMs (BLA). Currently, the company is managing about 18,000 BLAs which it expects to nearly double to 35,000 by 2016.

TCPSL had launched its first white-label ATM in Thane in June 2013. TCPSL is aiming to make ATM services available across urban, semi-urban and rural locations that have negligible or minimal banking infrastructure. TCPSL has tied up with Kerala based Federal Bank for cash supply and is talking to other banks also in this regard.
