Idea Cellular’s consolidated Q4 net profit increases marginally

Idea Cellular has reported results for the quarter and the year ended March 31, 2011.

The company’s net profit after tax for the fourth quarter has declined by 2.50% at Rs 255.92 crore as compared to Rs 262.49 crore for the corresponding quarter previous year. Its total income has increased by 28.32% at Rs 4201.40 crore for the quarter under review from Rs 3274.21 crore in the same quarter last year.

The company has registered a drop of 19.84% in its net profit after tax for the year under review at Rs 844.60 crore as compared to Rs 1053.66 crore for the last year. Its total income jumped by 28.65% at Rs 15389.00 crore for the year from Rs 11962.08 crore in previous year.

On consolidated basis, the group’s net profit after tax for the quarter has marginally increased by 2.97% at Rs 274.52 crore as compared to Rs 266.61 crore for the same quarter last year. Total income for the quarter was up by 24.56% at Rs 4234.72 crore as compared to Rs 3399.74 crore for the corresponding previous quarter.

The group’s net profit for the year has fallen by 5.79% at Rs 898.71 crore as compared to Rs 953.94 crore for the year ended March 31, 2010. Total income for the year rose by 23.72% at 15503.22 crore as compared to Rs 12530.71 crore for the previous year.

Further the company has reported that the figures for the current period are not comparable with that of the corresponding period due to the merger of Spice Communications effective March 01, 2010, prior to which it was a joint venture.
