About SJVN Ltd

SJVN, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under administrative control of Ministry of Power, Government of India, was incorporated on May 24, 1988, as a joint venture of the Government of India (GOI) and the Government of Himachal Pradesh (GOHP). SJVN is now a listed company. The company has evolved from a hydropower-centric utility into a diversified energy company. The Company is engaged in the generation and sale of electricity. The tariff for electricity supplied from its major hydro power stations is determined by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), which lays down the principles and methodologies for tariff determination.

2012-13

  • The Company won the Commendation Certificate of ‘SCOPE Award for Excellence and Outstanding Contribution to the Public Sector Management-Institutional Category-II (Miniratna-I & II PSEs)’ 2010-11.
  • For its Meritorious CSR activities, company was awarded the prestigious 'Vishwakarma Awards' by Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC), a body established by the Planning Commission (Govt. of India) and Construction Industry.

2013-14

  • The Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station (6 x 250 MW) was evaluated for the 'Silver Shield' for the year 2012-13 and the 'Bronze Shield' for the year 2011-12 by the Central Electricity Authority in the category of 'Performance of Hydro Power Stations'.

  • The Company was awarded ISO 9001:2008 certification further for next three years. SJVN has been awarded this certification initially in the year 2005 for maintaining stringent Quality Requirements of Det Norkes Veritas.

2014-15

  • The Unit-5 & Unit-2 of Company’s Rampur Hydro Electric Project of SJVN Limited were selected for the 'Gold Shield' and 'Silver Shield' respectively for the year 2013-14 by the Ministry of Power, Govt. of India in the category of 'Early Completion of Hydro Power Projects'.
  • SJVN Limited has been honored with the “CBIP award of Best Performing Hydro Power Utility”.
  • SJVN has received this award for outstanding contribution to the Nation by setting New Bench Mark in Generation and Maintenance, excellence in engineering and use of latest State of Art Technologies and smart solutions for tackling major silt erosion problems.

  • 2020: Government of Himachal Pradesh allotted Three Hydro Projects - 104 MW Tandi, 130 MW Rashil and 267 MW Sach Khas Hydro Electric Projects on the Chenab Basin in Himachal Pradesh to SJVN.
  • 2020: SJVN signed MoU with Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA) for providing its services to SJVN for Green Energy projects. IREDA will undertake Techno-Financial due diligence of Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency & Conservation Projects for SJVN. Under the MoU, IREDA will also assist SJVN in developing an action plan to create and acquire Renewable Energy projects for the next 5 years.
  • 2020: SJVN joined International Solar Alliance (ISA) as Corporate Member. This prestigious membership will provide SJVN a global platform to garner cooperation amongst member countries to enhance the use of Solar Energy in a safe, convenient, affordable, equitable and sustainable manner.
  • 2020: Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the investment of Rs 1,810.56 crore for 210 MW Luhri Stage-1 Hydro Electric Project of SJVN, being developed on river Satluj in Shimla & Kullu districts of Himachal Pradesh. This includes budgetary support of Rs 66.19 crore from Govt of India for enabling infrastructure which has helped in reducing power tariff.
  • 2020: The investment proposal of Rs 687 crore has been approved by Government of India for 66-Megawatt Dhaulasidh Hydro Electric Project. This includes budgetary support of Rs 21.6 crore from Govt of India for enabling infrastructure.
  • 2020: SJVN Bagged 100 MW Solar Power Project in Dholera Solar Park through E-Reverse Auction at Rs 2.80/Unit. SJVN bagged the quoted capacity of 100 MW at Rs 2.80/Unit on Build Own and Operate (BOO) basis.
  • 2020: Kholongchhu Hydro Electric Limited (KHEL) signed a Concession Agreement (CA) with Ministry of Economic Affairs, Royal Government of Bhutan. With signing of this agreement, the issue of Power sale agreement between JV partners stands resolved which also bears the consent of both the Governments (India & Bhutan).
  • 2021: Agreement for Term Loan of Rs 8,448.46 crore for 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project at Chausa in Buxar district of Bihar being executed by SJVN Thermal Pvt. Limited (STPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN was inked between STPL and the consortium of lending Banks & Financial Institution (FI) which included State Bank of India, Canara Bank and IIFCL.
  • 2021: Kholongchhu Hydro Energy Ltd. signed an MOU with PFC - REC consortium for financing of 600 MW Kholongchhu Hydro Electric Project in Bhutan to the tune of Rs 4,058 crore.
