C H I Investments was incorporated as a public limited company on May 17, 2007 as CHI Investments Limited under the Companies Act. The Company is part of the RPG Enterprises, a conglomerate which comprises various entities having interests in Power, Information Technology, Tyres, Life Sciences, Entertainment and Retail. The promoters of the company are Dr. R P Goenka Chairman Emeritus and Mr H V Goenka Chairman of RPG Enterprises.

The company was established to carry on the business of an Investment Company and/or a holding company, to buy, sell, deal, hold, invest, disinvest, exchange and surrender stocks, shares, securities, scrips, derivatives, debt instruments, bonds, debentures, deposits, policies, book-debts and claims and commercial papers, government or commercial security or any other financial or investment instruments of any bank, company whether government or non-government, public or private or any local authority whether in India or abroad.

To carry on business of an Investment Trust Company, to undertake and transact all kinds of trust and agency investment, financial business, financiers and for that purpose to lend or invest money and negotiate loans in any form or manner, to draw, accept, endorse, discount, buy, sell and deal in bills of exchange, hundies, promissory notes and other negotiable instruments and securities and also to issue on commission, to subscribe for, underwrite, take, acquire and hold, sell and exchange and deal in shares, stocks, bonds or debentures or securities of any Government or Public Authority or Company, gold and silver and bullion and to form promote, subsidize and assist companies, syndicates and partnerships of all kinds, to promote industries and also to give any guarantee for payment of money or performance of any obligation or undertaking and to undertake any business undertaking transaction or operation commonly carried on or undertaken by capitalists, promoters, financiers, underwriters.
