Borax Morarji (BML) was incorporated on August 27, 1963. It was originally promoted jointly by the Dharamsi Morarji Chemical Co. Ltd. (DMCC) a large scale fertilizer and Chemical manufacturer and Borax Holdings Ltd. (UK). DMCC is a company incorporated in 1919 and has a turnover of over $70 million. In 1979 DMCC bought over the share of Borax Holdings.

This has enabled BML to maintain itâ€™s market share at 75% of the Indian boron chemicals market. A network of dealers all over India, built up over the last three decades, provides full support and service to customers.
The company mainly works under three divisions viz;
Chemical Division- BML has been manufacturing boron based chemicals at Ambernath near Mumbai, since 1964. Glass, ceramic and pharmaceutical industries are the major consumers of boron chemicals. The annual production capacity for all grades of Borax and Boric Acid are 25000MT and 8000MT respectively. A wide range of speciality chemicals are also produced, with application as detergents additives, micronutrient fertilizers, timber preservatives, flame retardants, and catalysts.The quality management system of the chemical division has been certified by Bureau Veritas Quality International in accordance with ISO 9002 : 1994 Quality Standards for: manufacture and supply ofi) Bulk Boron Chemicals ii) Speciality Boron Chemicals
Timber Division - In 1991, BML diversified into the manufacture of eco-friendly chemically treated timber, setting up a plant with an annual capacity to manufacture 12,000 cubic meters of chemically treated and seasoned rubberwood. The plant was set up in technical collaboration with the Danish Wood Treating Co. Ltd., Denmark. The company markets the chemically treated rubberwood under the brand name BOROTIKÂ® , which is sold to the furniture and construction industries and also converted into flooring and panels. In the year 1994, the company undertook a forward integration programme of the timber division by setting up a 100% export oriented unit for manufacture of value added wood products for the International market. Products are custom made to meet customer requirements and are exported to USA, Europe and Middle East.
Windmill Division- The company has setup two windmill farms consisting of 7 wind turbine generators having a total generation capacity of 1.75 megawatts. Power from the Windmills is used for internal consumption and for sale to the grid. BML is an active supporter of efforts to promote non-conventional energy sources.
