Maharashtra Polybutenes Limited an erstwhile GP Goenka-controlled Duncan group company, formerly known as Herdillia Polymers Ltd was formed in 1988 and has been manufacturing Polybutenes, an industrial chemical used in the manufacture of lubricating oil, jelly filled cables, emulsions as well as in formulations of engine oils for two stroke engines of two wheelers since 1994.

Maharashtra Polybutenes  brings international quality ‘HERMAVIS’ polybutenes from its plant located in Navi Mumbai. The plant is based on technology from FINA TECHNOLOGY Inc, USA. The location of plant close to major consumers in and around Navi Mumbai makes it ideal for the users.

The plant of the company can produce up to 9000 MTPA of various grades of polybutenes. MPL polybutenes are marketed under brand name of “HERMAVIS”.

HERMAVIS polybutenes are available in wide varieties of Viscosity and Molecular Weights. It also work in close co ordination with customers to meet their specific requirements.

HERMAVIS based additives make Auto Lube Oils retain their original composition even under high stress and high temperature. HERMAVIS reduces lubrication break downs and enhances the viscosity index. Oleophilic nature of HERMAVIS is useful in making detergents or antirust additives of Lube Oils.

HERMAVIS based jellies for Jelly Filled Telecommunication Cables offer very good resistance to water, oxidation, corrosion and gas evolution even under sever electrical stress. Because of its inert nature, HERMAVIS is able to retain electrical properties even after prolonged use.

Permanently non-drying and tacky nature of HERMAVIS makes it an ideal material for formulations of Sealants, Caulks, Gap filling compounds, Water proofing compounds, etc.

HERMAVIS based 2T Oils (Lubricating Oils for 2 Stroke Engines) leave no residual unbrunt carbon upon combustion. Besides efficient lubrication, these 2T oils improve fuel economy, reduce exhaust smoke levels and maintenance costs.

HERMAVIS being available in wide variety of viscosity are used in various applications. The HERMAVIS can be used in variety of applications due to uniqueness of the product. The HERMAVIS can be used directly, compounded with others. The list of applications keeps growing due to versatile nature of HERMAVIS. The major properties of HERMAVIS are:

  • Wide range of viscosities
  • High viscosities index
  • Stability to light and air
  • Permanently no drying and tacky
  • Colorless and non-staining
  • Good compatibility with wide range of organic materials
  • Highly hydrophobic
  • Impermeable to gases and vapors
  • Non volatile at ordinary temperatures
  • Good electrical properties
  • Evaporates completely at high temperatures leaving no residue
  • Non Toxic

Some of the Applications are

  • Lubricants
  • Viscosity Improver
  • Oil and Fuel Additive
  • Gear and Hydraulic Oils
  • Packaging, films
  • Seals for plant grafts
  • Insect traps
  • Plastic and leather modifications
  • AdhesivesThe list is continuously growing due to versatile nature of HERMAVIS

Product - MPL plant produces HERMAVIS in various viscosities and molecular weights.
