Tata Power’s Delhi Distribution circle (TPDDL) has won the ‘Innovation for India Awards 2014’, under Business Category, for developing tamper evident and defraud electricity meter. The company received the award on March 25, 2014, at the function held at Jamshed Bhabha Theatre, Mumbai. This was the fifth edition of the awards, organized by the Marico Innovation Foundation. The foundation recognizes innovation in the field of business, social and public service in India.
The award jury believed that TPDDL’s innovation - tamper evident and defraud electricity meter, is immensely useful and addresses a very pertinent issue of high AT&C losses plaguing the power sector in India. The fact that the innovation for the next generation meters has already begun, was especially appreciated by the jury.
