Amid mounting pressure to clear the Lokpal Bill, government is planning to extend the ongoing winter session of Parliament. The government is likely to extend the session by three days. However, the final decision on extension of session will be taken at a cabinet meeting Monday evening.

'Government's Lokpal Bill is weak. If the Lokpal Bill as per our demand is brought in the winter session then we will not agitate from December 27. The Citizen's Charter and the CBI (Central Bureau Investigation) should be brought under Lokpal ambit,' Anna Hazare said. The social crusader had earlier warned government that if the Bill is not passed then he and his team will protest from December 27, 2011.

During the ongoing winter session, Parliament has hardly done business as most of its sessions were adjourned for various reasons like entry of FDI in retail, price rise, Telangana. The winter session’s every business day is crucial since various significant Bills are on its agenda. The session is scheduled to end on December 22, 2011. If the cabinet accords for aforementioned extension, Lok and Rajya Sabha will reconvene after Christmas break on December 27, 28 and 29.
