Tata Power carries substantial portion of bulk power requirement of Mumbai

Tata Power, one of India’s largest integrated power companies, carries a substantial portion of the bulk power requirement of Mumbai. The company has got a robust and reliable transmission and distribution network in Mumbai. The company’s transmission network comprises approximately 1,100 circuit kilometre of 220KV/ 110KV lines and 20 receiving stations spread across the city of Mumbai. As at December 31, 2013, Tata Power distributed electricity to approximately 4.5 lakh retail customers.

Power carried by the Tata Power transmission system is utilized by all the four distribution companies operating in Mumbai. Tata Power has transmission schemes approved by the MERC, including installation of - a 220KV transmission line from Kalwa to Salsette; a 220KV Trombay Dharavi Salsette transmission line; a 145KV GIS (gas insulated switchgear) at Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai; a 145KV GIS at HDIL, Kurla; a 220KV GIS at Mahalaxmi, Mumbai; a 75MVA transformer with a 33KV GIS at Parel, Mumbai and replacement of a 22KV bus section at Dharavi, Mumbai.
