Tata Power’s JV commissions 66/11 kV, 50 MVA grid substation at Bawana

Taking another step forward in its distribution network automation program, Tata Power Delhi Distribution (TPDDL), a joint venture (JV) of Tata Power and the Government of Delhi, commissioned the 66/11 kV, 2X25 MVA (50 MVA) state-of-the-art grid substation at Bawana sector -1. The newly commissioned grid substation will benefit over 700 upcoming industrial units from among the 3,000 industrial units under construction in the DSIIDC industrial area. The grid substation has been built at a total cost of Rs 24 crore.

The 66/11 kV Bawana grid substation is an unmanned grid and will be remote operated from Tata Power Delhi Distribution’s state-of- the-art supervisory controlled and data acquisition centre (SCADA). The grid is established with a high reliability on power supply with six numbers of incoming power supply sources coming from different grids. The grid is also equipped with the latest automatic fire detection and extinguishing system that uses nitrogen for power transformers. The grid substation has also sufficient provisions for further expansion to meet the load growth in Bawana industrial area.
