J K Lakshmi Cement said it is scouting for a suitable location to set up a two million tonnes per annum (mtpa) greenfield cement manufacturing plant , which could entail an investment of around Rs 750 crore.
The company has two manufacturing facilities, one each in Rajasthan and Gujarat, and essentially caters to the western and northern regions of the country with a total installed capacity of 4.7 mtpa
It is putting up a 2.7 mtpa greenfield plant at Durgh in Chhattisgarh with around Rs 1,200 crore investment and adding another 0.6 mtpa within the existing facilities through debottlenecking, which will be completed by end of next year. The Durgh facility would cater to the Eastern region. Hence, the new 2 mtpa proposed facility may come to the Southern region, which would help J K Lakshmi Cement to have a pan-India presence. J K Lakshmi Cement had earlier stated that it would have 10 mtpa installed capacity by 2012.
