Tata Power surpasses 500 MW milestone of renewable energy generation capacity

Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power utility, has crossed the milestone of 500 MW renewable energy capacity with the commissioning of a Solar Plant at Palaswadi, Maharashtra. This achievement is in line with the company’s commitment to have a 20-25 percent contribution in energy generated from clean power sources that includes a mix of Hydro, Solar, Wind, Geothermal, and Waste Gas generation.

The company currently has a total operating capacity of 460.6 MW from Wind farms and 54 MW in Solar Generation. In addition, the company has 447 of hydro and 202.5 MW from waste gas-based generation. With this milestone, Tata Power’s total installed generation capacity stands at 8585 MW, with 1170 MW from clean energy sources.

Furthermore, the company has aggressive plans to increase its generation capacity from green energy sources alone based on projects that are already in advance stage of execution and development. These projects include a 25 MW AC Solar Plant located at Palaswadi, Maharashtra, a 32 MW wind energy project located at Ambheri, Maharashtra, a 126 MW being implemented in Bhutan by Dagachhu Hydro Power Corporation, a 49.5 MW wind energy project in Pethshivpur, a 94.8 MW wind power generation project currently under execution in South Africa, a 134.4 MW wind power generation project in Amakhala Emoyeni and a 185 MW hydroelectric project in Southwest Georgia.
