UCO Bank wins SKOCH award for excellence in banking

UCO Bank, a Kolkata-based bank, has been awarded the ‘Platinum SKOCH Inclusion & Deepening Award 2014’ for ‘excellence in banking’. The bank has adopted 18 villages across 10 states for the uplift of below-poverty-line households. It has trained 46,659 persons, of which 27,000 have become economically self-reliant with a credit linkage of Rs 590 crore.

The bank reported over five fold jump in its net profit at Rs 284.70 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2014 as compared to Rs 49.56 crore for the same quarter in the previous year.  Total income of the bank increased by 17.27% at Rs 5309.27 crore for quarter under review as compared to Rs 4527.06 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2013.
