L&T rises as construction division bags orders worth Rs 2,056 crore

Larsen and Toubro (L&T) is currently trading at Rs 1000.55, up by 5.45 points or 0.55% from its previous closing of Rs 995.10 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 1006.70 and has touched a high and low of Rs 1007.90 and Rs 991.00 respectively. So far 167837 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs 2 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 2003.50 on 31-Dec-2010 and a 52 week low of Rs 971.00 on 21-Dec-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 1049.50 and Rs 991.45 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 60958.08 crore.

The Institutions and Non-Institutions held 52.18% and 43.58% stake in the company, respectively.

L&T’s construction division has secured new orders worth Rs 2,056 crore across various business segments during December 2011. The company’s water and effluent treatment business has bagged two major orders aggregating worth Rs 1,262 crore.

In the building and factories segment a new order worth Rs 388 crore has been received from a reputed developer in Mumbai for the construction of 4 residential towers. Moreover, in the rail infrastructure segment, new orders including additional orders aggregating Rs 406 crore has been bagged from various clients. This includes a major order for the construction of a viaduct including electrical, signaling and telecommunication works between Villupurum-Virudhachalam-Ariyalur section from Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL).

Earlier in December 2011, L&T’s construction division bagged new order valued at Rs 1,000 crore across various business segments in the third quarter of FY2012.
