L&T Construction bags order worth Rs 2050 crore

L&T Construction, the construction arm of Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has won new orders aggregating worth Rs 2050 crore across various business segments in August and September 2014.

Under Power Transmission & Distribution Business, the company has bagged international and domestic orders worth Rs 1213 crore. Larsen a Toubro Saudi Arabia LLC, a fully owned subsidiary of L&T, has bagged a major international order from the National Grid, Saudi Arabia (a subsidiary of Saudi Electricity Company) for the construction of an Extra High Voltage Double Circuit Transmission Line with a route length of 192 km. This project will improve the power system reliability in Shedgum and Uthmaniyah areas in the eastern region of Saudi Arabia. Secured against stiff competition, L&T’s scope in this turnkey order involves design, engineering, testing and supply of ENV transmission towers, conductors, insulators) other transmission accessories, testing and commissioning of the line. The project is scheduled to be completed in 24 months.

On the domestic front, a turnkey order has been received from the Tamilnadu Transmission Corporation limited (TANTRANSCO) for establishing 400/230kV AIS & GIS substations at Karamadai near Coimbatore, Poiyur near Trichy and at Chennai Central. Another order from the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited involves supply, erection, testing and commissioning of 33/11 kV Medium Voltage substations as part of the Power Distribution Network for enhancing electricity infrastructure under the RAPDRP Scheme in major towns of West Bengal.

Under the Buildings & Factories Business, the company has bagged orders worth Rs 775 crore which consist of two new orders and a few additional orders from on-going jobs.

The first order is from a private developer for the construction of a resort in the western part of the country. The project includes construction of standard resort villas. L&T’s scope involves civil, structural, interior finishes, electrical, plumbing and all other allied works.  The company has bagged another order from one of India’s leading ATM manufacturers for the construction of their manufacturing and assembly facilities at Jaipur. The project will involve civil, structural, finishes and other associated works.

Additional orders have also been received from various ongoing jobs in the Heavy Civil Infrastructure Business and Water & Renewable Energy Business.
