Hero MotoCorp to set up a manufacturing plant in Chittoor district of AP

In a bid to set up a manufacturing plant in Andhra Pradesh (AP), Hero MotoCorp is planning to invest Rs 2,200 crore. In this regard, the state Cabinet has cleared allotment of 600 acres near Sri City integrated business city in Chittoor district to Hero Moto-Corp, steeling a march over neighbouring states to host the factory.

The proposed plant, which will have a capacity of 1.8 million units, will be the company’s sixth facility and will take its overall annual capacity to 12 million units.

Hero MotoCorp is the World’s single largest two-wheeler motorcycle company. Honda Motor Company of Japan and the Hero Group entered a joint venture to setup Hero Honda Motors in 1984. Hero Honda Motors changed its name to Hero MotoCorp following the exit of its erstwhile Japanese promoter, Honda, from the company.
