CESC shines on plan to raise $150 million through private placement

CESC is currently trading at Rs. 774.40, up by 9.50 points or 1.24% from its previous closing of Rs. 764.90 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 775.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 781.80 and Rs. 766.05 respectively. So far 22760 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 828.10 on 16-Sep-2014 and a 52 week low of Rs. 320.45 on 25-Sep-2013.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 808.80 and Rs. 748.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 9689.41 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 52.48% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 39.12% and 8.35% respectively.

Power utility company CESC has received its board’s approval to raise $150 million through private placement. The company may raise the money through equity shares, fully convertible debentures, partly convertible debentures, non-convertible debentures with warrants or any other securities (collectively referred to as QIP securities) “on a private placement basis”. The company’s board gave the approval for the same at its meeting held on September 22, 2014.

CESC is engaged in power generation and distribution in state of West Bengal. CESC is a fully integrated power utility with its operation spanning the entire value chain: right from mining coal, generating power, distribution of power.
