Jaiprakash Power Ventures drops plan to hive off hydro power units

Jaiprakash Power Ventures has dropped plans to hive off Bapsa II and Karcham Wangtoo hydro power plants into two separate, wholly-owned subsidiaries. Earlier, the company had entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on July 27, 2014 with Reliance CleanGen (RCL), a 100% subsidiary of Reliance Power for divestment of three Hydro Power Plants namely - Baspa-II, Vishnuprayag and Karcham Wangtoo. However, the exclusivity of the MOU with Reliance Power ends on September 25, 2014.

Jaiprakash Power Ventures is part of India’s leading Infrastructure conglomerate - Jaypee Group. Currently the company operates the largest hydroelectric power plant in the private sector in India. Its power projects which are in different stages of implementation include Hydro, Thermal and Transmission.
