Maruti Suzuki reports 4.6% jump in September sales

Maruti Suzuki India, country’s largest car maker, has registered a rise of 4.6% in its total car sales (Domestic + Export) for the month of September 2014 at 109742 units, as against 104964 units in September 2013. The company’s domestic sales rose by 9.8% in September 2014 at 99290 units, as against 90399 units in corresponding month last year.

Of the total, the company has sold 81447 units of its passenger cars during last month, up by 3.1% as against 78975 units in September 2013. The sales of its utility vehicles rose by 125.10% to 5980 units from 2657 units, while the company’s sales of vans increased by 35.30% to 11863 units as against 8767 units in September 2013. The company’s export sales declined 28.20% to 10452 units as against 14565 units in September 2013.

Sales of compact cars were up 18.10% during the month at 43304 units as against 36679 units in the same month last year, moreover sales of Mid-size segment increased by 263.80% to 1375 units in September as against 378 units. Meanwhile, sales of super compact zoomed by 42.50% at 1221 units last month, as compared with 857 units in September 2013. However, mini segment cars sales dropped 13.40% at 35547 units against 41061 units in the same month previous year.
