Rural Electrification Corporation surges on reporting 35% rise in Q2 net profit

Rural Electrification Corporation is currently trading at Rs 307.55, up by 5.55 points or 1.84% from its previous closing of Rs 302.00 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 301.10 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 311.25 and Rs. 285.70 respectively. So far 585668 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 383.35 on 07-Jul-2014 and a 52 week low of Rs. 166.60 on 30-Jan-2014.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 307.50 and Rs. 297.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 28433.88 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 65.64% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 28.02% and 6.34% respectively.

Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) has registered 35.11% rise in its net profit at Rs 1500.75 crore for second quarter ended September 30, 2014 as compared to Rs 1110.73 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income of the company has increased 19.93% at Rs 5066.27 crore for Q2FY15 as compared Rs 4224.25 crore for the corresponding quarter previous year.

REC is engaged in providing financial assistance to state electricity boards, state government departments and rural electric co-operatives for rural electrification projects as are sponsored by them.
