Minda Industries shines on getting nod to hive off its Battery Division

Minda Industries is currently trading at Rs 633.70, up by 72.15 points or 12.85% from its previous closing of Rs 561.55 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 610.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 649.10 and Rs. 599.95 respectively. So far 73081 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'B' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 573.00 on 11-Nov-2014 and a 52 week low of Rs. 167.00 on 04-Mar-2014.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 573.00 and Rs. 505.15 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 1008.24 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 70.90 % while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 2.91 % and 26.19 % respectively.

Minda Industries has received an approval for hiving off of the running business of Battery Division of the company, located at Pant Nagar in state of Uttrakhand to a prospective joint venture (JV) between Minda Industries and Panasonic Corporation, subject to requisite approvals. The board of directors at their meeting held on November 11, 2014 has approved for the same.

Last month, the company had signed a Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) with Panasonic Corporation, Japan to manufacture and supply lead acid storage batteries for two wheelers, four wheelers and for other industrial batteries.

Minda is the third-largest company in the local auto-lighting business, with 18 per cent market share.
