Tata Power to start Jojobera sewage treatment plant in March 2015

Tata Power has announced the installation of a sewage treatment plant at its Jojobera plant in Jamshedpur. The new plant will be functional from March 2015. With a total capacity of 50 kiloliters per day, the plant will result in huge savings of raw water due to the recycling and reuse of waste water.

Tata Power has been implementing the 3R principle - ‘Reuse, Reduce and Recycle’ for conservation of the environment across its various facilities. Post treatment, the sewage water will be used for maintaining greenery within the plant premises whereas the sludge slurry will be reprocessed for gardening and secured land filling after drying.

The sewage treatment plant is based on proven MBBR (moving bed biological reactor) technology. Major equipment of the plant comprises of equalization tank, biological reactors, clarifier, flocucculator, tube settler, collection and treated water system. The guaranteed treated water quality conforms to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) norms.
