Tata Power inches higher on the bourses

Tata Power is currently trading at Rs 105.35, up by 0.45 points or 0.43% from its previous closing of Rs 104.90 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 104.70 and has touched a high and low of Rs 106.55 and Rs 103.90 respectively. So far 83005 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 135.49 on 03-May-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs 80.65 on 20-Dec-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 108.40 and Rs 93.10 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 24834.20 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 31.81% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 48.66% and 16.30% respectively. 

Tata Power reportedly is negotiating with MEC co-promoter Ras-al-Khaimah Investment Authority to acquire 15% stake in MEC Coal. The Tata Group subsidiary is keen on augmenting its foreign coal assets to reduce power generation costs at its plants in India, where fuel shortage often leads to outages.

MEC Coal is developing coal concessions in Indonesia, along with an integrated heavyhaul rail transportation system and ship-loading jetty in the East Kalimantan province. The coal railway project is estimated to cost about $1 billion.
