Ceat plunges on reporting sharp decline in Q3 profits

Ceat is currently trading at Rs 82.25, down by 5.15 points or 5.89% from its previous closing of Rs 87.40 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 88.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs 90.35 and Rs 80.05 respectively. So far 515813 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'B' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 124.90 on 25-Jan-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs 66.20 on 21-Dec-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 91.50 and Rs 82.70 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 303.40 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 50.16% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 17.87% and 31.98% respectively.

Tyre major Ceat has posted a 52.30% decline in its net profit of Rs 2.39 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2011 as compared to Rs 5.01 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Net sales of the company increased by 18.18% to Rs 1,048.02 crore for the quarter compared to Rs 886.77 crore for the corresponding quarter of the preceding year.

The company has reported that the results were adversely impacted by an illegal strike of workers at its Nasik factory from September 30, 2011 to October 22, 2011.
