Tata Metaliks has restarted operations at its Mini Blast Furnace 2 (MBF 2) with effect from December 19, 2014. The company had earlier decided to shut down its MBF 2 for a period of 20 days with effect from December 03, 2014.
Tata Metaliks was set up as a joint venture between Tata Steel and WBIDC (West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation) to manufacture pig iron at its plant at Kharagpur, West Bengal. It has two plants at present, one located at Kharagpur (West Bengal) and the other at Redi (Maharashtra).
