Berger Paints to build fully automated plant

Berger Paints India Ltd is to start construction of its fully automated water-based paint factory at Hindupur, near Bangalore, by the end of the current year, targeting production by the middle of 2012. The 1,50,000-tonne facility, to be spread over 60 acres, will cost Rs 130 crore. The funding would be entirely from within, out of the amount (Rs 135 crore) accumulated last year by way of issuing warrants to its promoters.

The plant, when fully operational, will increase the annual production capacity from the present 2,00,000 tonnes to over 3,50,000 tonnes. It will be the eighth manufacturing facility of the company. The other units are at Jammu, Goa, Puducherry, Vallabh Vidya Nagar (Gujarat), Arinso (Uttar Pradesh), Howrah and Rishra (West Bengal). The company was also undertaking a Rs 35-crore expansion programmes at its Rishra, Jammu and Goa facilities to raise its annual capacity by 40,000 MT by the end of 2010-11. crackcrack
