Indian Hotels Company to add one property every three weeks

Indian Hotels Company, which operates through a clutch of brands including the luxury Taj, Vivanta, Gateway, Ginger is likely to add one property every three weeks as it has observed extraordinary growth in the last 10 years and expects to sustain this over the next decade.

The company is developing new projects in South Africa, the US, Europe and West Asia. It has grown from 62 hotels in 2003 to 119 hotels and continues to expand business within the country and abroad. The number of international tourists has gone past the six million-mark and the domestic travelers are increasing with affordability levels going up.

Indian Hotels Company is promoted by the Tata Group. It has long-standing operations spanning over 100 years and operates the largest hotel chain in South Asia. IHCL, its subsidiaries and associates are widely recognized under the umbrella brand name ‘Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces’, which has 107 hotels with a room inventory of 12,795 rooms as on March 31, 2011.
