Apollo Hospitals, a healthcare major is planning to invest around Rs 100 crore to set up a mega health park at Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh and the project will be spread over 86 acre of land which will be completed in three years. The health park will have a 200-bed multi speciality hospital and a nursing college.
The company is likely to start preliminary study of the location for setting up the park within the next three to six months. As a part of its expansion plans in medical education venture the group is also planning to set up three medical colleges at Chennai, Hyderabad and Madurai and expects the first of the three colleges to start functioning within the next two years.
The healthcare chain is already running 11 nursing and hospital management colleges. Apollo Hospitals has been in talks with Khazanah which holds nearly 12 percent stake in Apollo, for healthcare education in the country. The healthcare chain also has 1,200 pharmacies and 54 hospitals with a capacity of over 8,500 beds besides over 100 diagnostic clinics across the country.
The company has reported a surge of 61.27% in its net profit to Rs 47.09 crore for the fourth quarter as compared to Rs 29.20 crore for the same quarter last year. Total income has increased by 28.42% to Rs 627.25 crore for the quarter to from Rs 488.45 crore in the same quarter previous year.
The company has posted a net profit of Rs 181.72 crore for FY11, rose by 19.57% as compared to Rs 151.97 crore in the last year. Total income has increased by 26.60% to Rs 2353.33 crore for the year from Rs 1858.75 crore in last year.
