Hero MotoCorp’s JV ‘HMC-MM Auto’ has inaugurated its first autonomous ‘Production and Development Centre’ at Manesar in the north Indian state of Haryana on March 25, 2015. HMC-MM Auto is the Joint Venture (JV) between Hero MotoCorp (HMCL) and Milan (Italy)-headquartered Magneti Marelli (MM).
The new centre will serve as a production facility and innovation hub to develop new-generation fuelling systems for HMCL two-wheelers. HMCL holds majority stake of 60% in ‘HMC-MM Auto’ while Magneti Marelli holds the rest 40%.
Hero MotoCorp is the World’s single largest two-wheeler motorcycle company. Honda Motor Company of Japan and the Hero Group entered a joint venture to setup Hero Honda Motors in 1984. Hero Honda Motors changed its name to Hero MotoCorp following the exit of its erstwhile Japanese promoter, Honda, from the company.
