Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers (TNPL) is planning to set up a 30 mega watt (MW) power plant. In this regard, the company will invest around Rs 150 crore. The proposed project will cater to the upcoming Rs 1,500 crore multilayer paper board manufacturing plant, which is expected to be ready by the end of 2015.
The green field facility will be coal-based, where the raw material (coal) will be imported. The project is expected to go on stream by June 2015. The plant will come up at Mannaparai, in Tamil Nadu.
TNPL was established with an intention to manufacture newsprint and printing and writing paper by using bagasse as a raw material. The company manufactures products such as ultra white maplitho, elegant maplitho, hi-tech maplitho, creamwove, copy crown and copier.
