Committed to developing a robust network backbone for the benefit of its consumers and support the growing consumer base on its own network, Tata Power has successfully reached the network capacity of 3,700 km in Mumbai. Out of that, the company has reached 1,550 km low tension and 2,150 km of high tension network.

Tata Power has crossed a landmark investment figure of more than Rs 1300 crore in Mumbai’s power distribution infrastructure in the last five years. Facing challenges head on, Tata Power has successfully created capacity to serve more and more consumers on its own network in the city of Mumbai despite the various challenges it faced. The company now has 28 distribution sub stations (DSS) and plans to setup additional DSS as and when required.

Currently, Tata Power caters to about 38 percent of Mumbai's requirements. The company is also planning to increase MVA capacity of transmission from 1,600MVA to 2,900MVA by FY 2020-21. A pioneer in the application of innovation and technology, Tata Power has brought tremendous value addition and benefits to its customers through various initiatives.

The company is currently the only utility in Mumbai to have already piloted electricity distribution with space saving and safe technological measures such as pole mounted transformers, natural ester-filled transformers, underground feeder pillars, e-house DSS and using indigenously designed outdoor meter panel box for societies where alternative meter rooms are not available.
