Chennai-based Pondy Oxides and Chemicals has commenced trial operations at its new smelter plant in Andhra Pradesh (AP) for manufacture of lead and lead alloys. The new plant has an installed capacity of 36,000 mt per annum. The new smelter plant would meet the additional market demand, both domestic and international, and was part of its continued efforts to keep abreast with the growing demand of its customers and emerging new markets.
Pondy Oxides manufactures lead and lead alloys and PVC additives for supply to battery makers, chemical manufacturers and PVC makers. About 50 per cent of its production is exported to customers in South Korea, Japan, Indonesia and to West Asia, along with other countries.
