Bajaj Auto to raise its market share in two-wheeler segment

12 May 2015 Evaluate

Bajaj Auto is planning to raise its total market share in two-wheeler segment to nearly 23 per cent over the next one year. Currently, the company has a market share of 17 per cent in the overall two-wheeler segment and competes with the likes of Hero, Honda and TVS.

The company is aiming the same on the sidelines of the launch of its new “Pulsar” range - ‘AS 200’, AS 150 and ‘RS 200’. The projected growth also depends on performance of the ‘100 cc’ bike category (also called commuter segment); which has over the last fiscal (FY 2014-15) remained stagnant for the entire industry.

Further, the company is planning to expand the capacity at its Chakan plant in Maharashtra. The Chakan unit caters to its Pulsar range of bikes.

Bajaj Auto is a $2.3 billion company founded in 1926. It is world’s fourth largest two and three-wheeler manufacturer. Bajaj Auto has three plants in all, two at Waluj and Chakan in Maharashtra and one plant at Pant Nagar in Uttaranchal.
