Kingfisher Airlines surges on the bourses

Kingfisher Airlines is currently trading at Rs. 27.35, up by 0.60 points or 2.24% from its previous closing of Rs. 26.75 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 26.75 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 28.00 and Rs. 26.00 respectively. So far 1048855 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'B' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 49.25 on 07-Apr-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs. 17.55 on 11-Nov-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 28.15 and Rs. 26.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 1366.40 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 58.61% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 24.10% and 17.29% respectively.

Kingfisher Airlines has reported a net loss of Rs 444.27 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2011, against net loss of Rs 253.69 crore for the corresponding period last fiscal. Total income declined by 19.07% to Rs 1342.33 crore during the quarter under review from Rs 1658.70 crore in the year-ago period.

Kingfisher Airlines is one of the leading private players in the Indian aviation industry. Incorporated in 1995 as Deccan Aviation, the company is engaged in the business of providing passenger and helicopter charter services. The name was changed to Kingfisher Airlines in the year 2008. The airline is part of UB Group owned by Vijay Mallya.
