Hero MotoCorp has sold 100,000 motorcycles and scooters on online marketplace Snapdeal. At an average of Rs 50,000 for each unit, the value of the sales achieved online would be approximately Rs 500 crore. This feat, the first by a domestic two-wheeler maker, has been achieved in about five months of the launch of online sales.
Hero MotoCorp is the World’s single largest two-wheeler motorcycle company. Honda Motor Company of Japan and the Hero Group entered a joint venture to setup Hero Honda Motors in 1984. Hero Honda Motors changed its name to Hero MotoCorp following the exit of its erstwhile Japanese promoter, Honda, from the company.
