Alstom’s JV commence production at Sanand plant

Alstom Bharat Forge Power (ABFPL), the joint venture between Alstom and Bharat Forge, has commenced production at its new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for making supercritical turbines and generators, at Sanand, in the state of Gujarat. Set up over an area of 185,000 square meters, the site boasts an annual capacity of 4000 MW, producing equipment for several major power projects in India. At present, the factory employs more than 250 highly skilled manpower and plans are afoot to ramp it up to 650 in the near future.

The joint venture company has invested Rs 1,350 crore in the Sanand facility. Alstom owns 51 per cent stake in the JV while Bharat Forge owns 49 per cent. The first production from the new plant will be related to major power projects in India with the first deliveries planned in the current calendar year.

Alstom is a global leader in power generation, power transmission and rail infrastructure. Present in India since 1911, Alstom has strong capabilities in engineering, manufacturing, project management and supply of products and solutions for infrastructure.
