Hero MotoCorp reports 5.41% fall in May sales

02 Jun 2015 Evaluate

The country’s largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp (HMCL) has reported 5.41% fall in its total sales at 569876 units in May 2015 as compared to 602481 units sold in the same month last year. Despite slowing rural economy and moderating wages in the rural market, the company has managed to consistently report over five lakh unit sales month-on-month.

HF Deluxe, the popular commuter segment bike from the company, has achieved a remarkable feet clocking more than 1 million unit sales in the financial year 2015. HF Deluxe has thus emerged as the third HMCL motorcycle brand to clock annual sales of a million units, joining Hero Splendor and Hero Passion.

Splendor iSmart, the world’s most fuel efficient bike with a mileage of 102.5 km per litre, has been another success story, having already sold over 350,000 units of two-wheelers since its launch just about a year back. The company also recently sold over 100,000 two-wheelers on the online platform through its tie-up with Snapdeal in a matter of a few months.

Hero MotoCorp is the World’s single largest two-wheeler motorcycle company. Honda Motor Company of Japan and the Hero Group entered a joint venture to setup Hero Honda Motors in 1984. Hero Honda Motors changed its name to Hero MotoCorp following the exit of its erstwhile Japanese promoter, Honda, from the company.
