Adani Power, Reliance Power to build several plants in Bangladesh: Report

In a bid to produce up to 4,600 Mw of electricity, to ease that country’s prolonged power crisis, two leading Indian power firms -- Adani Power and Reliance Power -- are reportedly all set to build several plants in Bangladesh.

In this regard, both the entities have signed separate memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with state-run Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB).

Reliance Power and BPDB have signed MoU to develop four units of power plants to produce 3,000 Mw of electricity, at a cost of $3 billion. The plants will burn natural gas. Adani Power will set up two coal-fired plants, with a total capacity of 1,600 Mw. These will cost more than $1.5 billion.

Adani Power is engaged in the business of generation, accumulation, distribution and supply of power and to generally deal in electricity and to explore, develop, generate, accumulate, supply and distribute or to deal in other forms of energy from any source whatsoever.
