Reliance Power, Adani Power to build plants in Bangladesh: Report

In a bid to produce up to 4,600 Mw of electricity, to ease that country’s prolonged power crisis, two leading Indian power firms -- Reliance Power and Adani Power -- are reportedly all set to build several plants in Bangladesh.

In this regard, both the entities have signed separate memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with state-run Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB).

Reliance Power and BPDB have signed an MoU to develop four units of power plants to produce 3,000 Mw of electricity, at a cost of $3 billion. The plants will burn natural gas.Adani Power will set up two coal-fired plants, with a total capacity of 1,600 Mw. These will cost more than $1.5 billion.

Reliance Power is a part of the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group and is established to develop, construct and operate power projects domestically and internationally.
