Andhra Bank, the 88-year-old public sector bank, is actively financing the self-help groups. The bank has so far covered 225643 self-help groups with advances amounting to Rs 2,430 crore. The priority sector advances of the bank stood at Rs 24,197 crore out of which agriculture advances were at Rs 11,368 crore. As part of the financial inclusion plan, Andhra Bank covered 1,144 villages with a population of more than 2,000 by the end of December 2011.
Recently, the bank has opened two financial centres, one in Warangal district and the other one at Peda Ogirala village in Krishna district.
